This festival honors Second Street's hidden history as a former business district for African-Americans. Though most of the buildings on the street were razed during Urban Renewal, the street still holds significant history for many in the community. The Soul of Second Street Festival will honor the past and bring the soul of Second Street to life once more!
Food vendors will offer some of the foods that used to be sold on Second Street, including “Coney Islands” (chili dogs), BLTs, and other diner food. Visitors can enjoy live gospel, jazz, blues and soul music that would have been heard in and around Second Street as well. Historical displays will bring to life the businesses, people, and events that made Second Street such a special place. Join us!
