  • Certified Kentucky Build-Ready Site

  • The Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development has certified a graded building pad of 101,250 square feet on a 17.8-acre tract in the John H. Stigall Business Center on Corporate Drive in Danville as its latest Kentucky Build-Ready Site.  The Danville site is now one of only 16 locations in Kentucky to receive this certification.

“While this initiative began just before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, it became even more critical to see it through to completion over the last 8 months so that our community is well-prepared for renewed industrial development activity.   With a Kentucky Build-Ready Site, we now can drastically reduce the time for site preparation and building construction, eliminate risk with our proactive planning, and qualify for more projects to attract industries,” said Jody Lassiter, President/CEO of Develop Danville, Inc.

The Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development’s Build-Ready Site certification program provides proof to a company that unknown obstacles have been removed, site due diligence has been performed, and the project implementation timeline has been significantly accelerated.  The rigorous criteria and standards for site certification may be reviewed in detail here.  As an added benefit, certified sites receive enhanced marketing and promotion by the Cabinet in its communications.

Danville’s site is owned and developed by the Boyle County Industrial Foundation (BCIF), Inc., one of the Partners in the Danville-Boyle County Economic Development Partnership.  BCIF is a private, nonprofit corporation established in 1961 to acquire and develop real estate for the recruitment and retention of industrial or corporate facilities.  Develop Danville, Inc., administers BCIF’s operations and serves as its marketing agent for industrial park properties.

The site certification project was managed by AGE Engineering Services, Inc., of Stanford.  AGE was selected as the service vendor by BCIF in March 2020 after it issued a competitive Request for Proposals for the project.  AGE coordinated a team of subcontractors including DECO Architects, Inc., of Somerset; Solid Ground Consulting Engineers, PLLC, of Richmond; and Weddle Enterprises, Inc., of Somerset.

Both the graded building pad and tract on which it is located are expandable to flexibly meet the needs of a business client.  Over 80 acres adjacent to the site are available for development.   Separate road access to Lebanon Road (KY 34) in addition to the site’s Corporate Drive frontage is also possible.
