Thousands of visitors participate in the popular October weekend event in Perryville each year that commemorates the Oct. 8, 1862 Civil War Battle of Perryville. Re-enactors demonstrate military maneuvers that were used in the battle. There are living history encampments, a lecture series, book presenters, antique and vendor tents, a Commemoration Parade, ghost tours, Period Social and a "Taste of 1862" xinner featuring an authentic meal prepared over a open fire. Other activities include a fun run, barbecue cook-off, beauty pageants, car show, street dance, live music, and more.
