Name: Japanese Winter Plum Festival at Norton Center for the Arts
    Date: February 19, 2015
    Time: 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM EST
    Event Description:
The Norton Center and Centre College will host a Japanese Winter Plum Festival to explore the rich culture of the “Land of the Rising Sun.”  The evening event will include demonstrations in Japanese tea tasting, flower arranging, calligraphy, Sake tasting and karaoke.  The highlight of the Festival is a sampling of traditional Japanese Sagi-ryu Kyogen Theatre.  These short plays originated in the 14th Century and represent humorous fables involving lively townspeople. In partnership with Yamaguchi Prefectural University, the actors and many of the Festival demonstrators are coming to the Norton Center directly from Yamaguchi, Japan, exclusively for this very special event.  The ticket price includes admission to the Festival and unlimited viewings of the Kyogen Theatre performances (rotated hourly).  Stay tuned as more festival announcements are made later this year.
