Bassist/composer Edgar Meyer and mandolinist/composer Chris Thile return to the Norton Center – this time as a duo, crossing traditional boundaries in a diverse program of largely original music. These two MacArthur Fellows have collaborated on several critically acclaimed projects including their 2014 duo recording; Yo-Yo Ma’s Grammy®-winning Goat Rodeo Sessions; a 2008 recording of original compositions; and, most recently, Chris Thile’s 2013 solo recording, Bach: Sonatas and Partitas, Vol. 1, produced by Meyer. A child prodigy, Thile first rose to fame as a member of Grammy® Award-winning trio Nickel Creek, with whom he released four albums and sold two million records. Mr. Meyer’s previous performing and recording collaborations include a duo with Béla Fleck; a quartet with Joshua Bell, Sam Bush and Mike Marshall; a trio with Béla Fleck and Mike Marshall; and a duo with Mark O’Connor for the 1996 Appalachia Waltz release. Meyer previously performed at the Norton Center with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and Thile with his band, Punch Brothers.
