Each October, Perryville Battlefield State Historic Site is host to a re-enactment of one of the bloodiest Civil War battles — the Battle of Perryville. Held in conjunction with the re-enactment, the city of Perryville hosts its own celebration. For three days, the town comes to life with the sights and sounds of 1862. Visitors will tour stationary camps for Union and Confederate soldiers and will see what life was like for them, as well as witness reenactments of the skirmishes that spilled onto the streets of town. There will be antiques, speakers, demonstrations and paranormal tours of the town. Admission to the downtown festival is free.
