The 150th anniversary celebration will include a dose of history to offer perspective on just how long 150 years really is, and what else was happening as the founders were establishing the original newspaper at the end of the Civil War. President Abraham Lincoln will be on hand in the person of Jim Sayre, a Chautauqua speaker from Lawrenceburg, who will be greeting guests at the event. Music will be provided by The Advocate Brass Band.
The celebration event will include a free meal for all, with ribeye sandwiches and sides; shaved ice to cool things down; and, of course, a very large birthday cake.
Fun activities will include art projects, a newspaper front porch toss event and a "photo op" for guests to appear on the front page of the paper. There will be door prizes and drawings every hour.
