Develop Danville to Host Fall Regional Job Fair

Job seekers in the Danville-Boyle area, mark your calendars for the Fall Regional Job Fair. This highly impactful workforce development event will be hosted by Develop Danville, the Danville-Boyle County Development Corporation (DBCDC). The event is also heavily supported by chambers of commerce throughout the region and community members such as Ty Howard, Director of the Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) Danville Campus. “This event is just outstanding,” Howard expressed. “I think it’s a great thing that Develop Danville has started.”

Attendees can explore over 50 employer tables and educational resources to help in their job search or career training. Attendees will also enjoy free food and networking opportunities.

Which employers will be represented at the Danville Job Fair?

Local employers take advantage of the Regional Job Fair each year to get their business and industry in front of job seekers and students looking to start their careers in the area. Employers tabled at the event will provide job descriptions, face-to-face chats with attendees, informational material, and in some cases, on-site job applications.

This year’s event will showcase over 50 local employers who are actively looking to fill roles and eager to recruit in the Danville-Boyle area. “There should be something for anybody looking for a particular job or career,” says Harold Nally, Senior VP of Workforce Development at DBCDC.  Employers this year will include:

How are local educational institutions participating in the Job Fair?

In addition to dozens of local employers, the job fair is also an opportunity for Danville-Boyle residents and students to learn more about the many educational opportunities in our community. Educational institutions that will be participating include:

• Campbellsville University-Harrodsburg
• Centre College
• Commonwealth of Kentucky (ELC) Industry & Apprenticeship Services
• Georgetown College
• Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC)

Ty Howard of BCTC will be attending to represent the dynamic workforce and career training opportunities at Bluegrass Community and Technical College. Howard, who has been BCTC Director of the Danville Campus for four years, is excited to be a part of the Regional Job Fair again this year. With an estimated 1,200 students in Boyle and surrounding counties, events like this are crucial to ensure a steady pipeline from educational institutions into the local workforce.

“The industries and employers represented at the Regional Job Fair are looking for our graduates every year, and this event makes it easy for them to get in line and meet them.”

BCTC is home to several highly sought-after vocational programs that employers in the Danville-Boyle County area are interested in. These include:

Ty Howard has some great advice for students and job seekers to ensure they can get the most out of this year’s event.

“Before coming to the event, do some research on the vendors you’re interested in,” he advises. “Get an understanding of what the employer is all about and what kinds of jobs they have available right now.”

Howard also offers the following tried-and-true tips for interacting with prospective employers.

“Bring a few copies of your resume, ideally with your picture on it so employers can connect your face with your resume later on. Also, spend some time honing your soft skills, and of course, you should dress nicely and always look people in the eye when communicating.”
