Jonathan New, guitarist with the West Coast Turnarounds, performs and there will be delicious food. This Somerset native’s first musical influences were the old gospel songs at the Baptist church where his father pastored. His mother was also a traditional country fan and would play Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Porter Wagoner, Loretta Lynn, and Dolly Parton records. New took up the guitar at 13 and began writing his own songs at 17 after hearing Billy Joe Shaver ( a Texas songwriter ). His album, “My Guitar and I” is available through him.
New’s performances include the Master Musicians Festival, The Nashville Songwriter Festival, ROMP, and the Red Barn Radio Show. He tours nationally with different artists as part of their road band. Along with his solo career, you can catch Jonathan playing with Travis Harris and the West Coast Turnarounds, The Rachel Crowe Band, and Funkabilly.
